Update your hosting emails!

June 18th, 2008

I am a bit disorganised sometimes and didnt update the billing email for the hosting account that this domain lives on, so the first I knew that the card had expired for this server was when I got a feedblitz of the suspended page :(

I still have too many servers and domains, the honest answer is I dont know where they all live and how to get into some of them now!

June 3rd, 2008

I love the Flip video camera but for some unknown reasons they wont sell me one and ship it to the UK. Whats the big deal?
Arent we good enough for you?

Is there some reason we need to be excluded from the sales of this thing?

I hate it when companies assume the rest of the world wouldn’t want to play!

Learn to spam and learn SEO

June 2nd, 2008

It amazes me how much you learn about real world SEO from doing web spam. Many people seem to think that building or promoting sites for the corporate world is an entirely different game than making a simple spammy site for adsense or afiliate but for me the lessons you learn from spam apply across all that you do.

The main reason I believe this is that spam is SEO in the real world, its results driven work and it gives you feedback far quicker than long term client work will ever do.

These are some of the things that spam teaches you that have applications within safer SEO: -

  • Crawl rate and the effect of different linking, both in and out
  • Understanding where the user will look and click is vital to spam and has also helped me a great deal in revamping client sites
  • Spam makes you think on a page by page level - something that is often missing from the corporate world
  • How to kick start indexing when the bots arent playing the game
  • Places you can get content from and the risks attached
  • Tactics for Social media and how to use them well
  • Any more you can think of ?

Gonna stop messing with the theme soon

    May 19th, 2008

I know I havent posted in an age - generally thats been a combination of being really busy and really not caring. The site will soon be relaunched on the .co.uk version of the domain.

The site will be changing content too, gone will be the pointless crap and I will be doing more useful posts about seo and tutorials etc on the subject. Maybe then I will be Paul from SEOidiot rather than just another pointless idiot.

What makes a good SEO ?

    March 10th, 2008

Doug tells us what good seo’s have in common. Some good points, most I have met are all a bit mad….

Why are good SEO’S all mad?

    Bye Bye SEOidiot

    February 23rd, 2008

Went to SES last week, Dave Naylor introduced me to Bruce Clay as ‘SEOidiot’ - It was sooooo embarassing

I think I may drop the name and use my own instead or perhaps SEOidiot will become the brand for the site and not for me…
