I am an SEO lumbered with the name SEOidiot, former Adsense spammer and generally more interested in real life SEO than all the stuff that goes with this industry.

Adsense account banned….

Well….. this morning I thought that doing the fun cartoon was a good idea… now I have reason to think I shouldnt have bothered.

Hours after it appeared on Threadwatch I got the dreaded email from the Adsense ‘Team’ saying: -

Heres me when i read it…..

Hello Paul Madden,

It has come to our attention that invalid clicks and/or impressions
have been generated on the Google ads displayed on your site(s).
Therefore, we have disabled your Google AdSense account. Please
understand that this was a necessary step in order to protect the
interest of the AdWords advertisers.

A publisher's site may not have invalid clicks or impressions on any
ad(s), including but not limited to clicks and/or impressions generated
by:

- a publisher on his own webpages
- a publisher encouraging others to click on his ads
- automated clicking programmes or any other deceptive software
- a publisher altering any portion of the ad code or changing the
layout, behaviour, targeting or delivery of ads for any reason

These or any other such activities that violate Google AdSense Terms
and Conditions and programme polices may have led us to disable your
account.

I have lodged an appeal as I HAVE NEVER clicked on my own ads or even thought about doing anything that would compromise my account. I am also an advertiser on Google and I support their desire to protect their advertisers. If my appeal is not succesfull it will be a complete and utter vindication for those who have been saying that Googles procedures for click fraud have reached crisis point.

I await the appeal and I have started to write my next episode, I have to say draft one isnt looking very positive at the moment. I hope that Matt and Google will continue to help us webmasters who strive to keep Google as the dominant force in our industry and that Google will review their procedures so we publishers dont end up feeling like all the work and effort we have done to create valuable content isnt dismissed with one automated email and a wall of silence.

Yours in hope rather than expectation….

Paul

Seriously Paul, you don’t have that much hair! You don’t have any hair lol!

Good luck with the appeal, “my friend” had one of his accounts disabled for invalid clicks(just like you, he obviously hadn’t clicked his own ads) and they just refused to even help him, even though his adwords account was clocking up a minimum of £2,500 a month for them!
